Foreword

Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), the Fresh Wave’s Local Competition Section has reached its fifth year in 2010. For the past four years, awardees were funded to visit international film festivals for exchange opportunities. This year marks the first year for the Fresh Wave to include the International Section besides the Local Competition Section. The HKADC is now calling for entries of short films from students or fresh graduates of overseas universities. We hope that this will provide a platform for exchanging ideas and establishing a dialogue through screening and sharing discussions between young filmmakers.

A selection committee, comprising of 5 film professionals, will be formed by the HKADC to select approximately 20 shorts films for screening with other local short films during the Fresh Wave 2010 – International Short Film Festival (“Festival”). The Festival will be held from 17 – 26 September 2010 at the Palace IFC cinemas and Broadway Cinematheque, Hong Kong. The committee will also invite 2 overseas young filmmakers to come to Hong Kong to share with the local counterparts their creative pursuits.
